"Managing a business is like surfing. Surfers already expect to encounter winds and waves of different velocity and direction. The stronger the wind and the waves, the higher the excitement. The thrill is in facing them and harnessing their effects to best advantage. A surfer’s cumulative experience is his armour to meet and overcome unexpected events.
In hindsight , we have been fortunate and lucky to be able to ride above the various tumultuous events of our 34 years. While past performance and experience are never a reliable indicator of future survival and success, we vigilantly scan our horizons to identify the next “killer waves” looming over the horizon. Except for sharper market volatility arising from the greater effects of globalisation, I expect that the new year will be no different from the past. Business will always have to grapple with the perennial issues of matching markets, demand , production capacity, right product at the right price. However the pace of change has certainly intensified since the financial crisis."
A wonderful analogy by our corporate service Director, it is surreal yet surprising appropriate to describe our current situation and reillterate our courage to take on the new horizon. I hope that I could uncover some useful sound bites to chip in my bits.
